Hello I am Rachel Kollerup! I am a fashion and graphic designer and work on sustainability and consumer responsibility is the foundation of my projects.
I am a graphic designer specializing in environmental responsibility and sustainability. For customers, collaborators and as a consultant for companies, I develop ideas and create concepts. I have nineteen years of experience in the industry and it provides peace and expertise – both for immersion and for the urgency.
Alongside my graphic work, I design clothes – as sustainable as possible. I collaborate with the fashion industry and researchers, and together we are looking for a definition and development of sustainable fashion. As an example, I collaborated with the consulting engineer FORCE Technology A / S, an LCA screening (life cycle assessment) of an entire clothing collection from my own brand “rachel kollerup”. The report can be downloaded at www.rachelkollerup.com/LCAscreening.
In recent years, and I will continue, I have worked in the intersection of design and research to develop hemp textiles in the Nordic region and spread the knowledge of Nordic-produced hemp textiles with stakeholders. It is still a challenge in the textile industry to choose sustainable metal products with the transparency in which the entire production chain can be read – but the demand is there!
I teach and advise on sustainable design and environmentally responsible clothing purchases from the 5th grade to design students and designers – and consumers who will be wiser for sustainable clothing purchases.
In November 2012, I won the Køge Municipality Agenda 21 Prize for my uncompromising, groundbreaking work to strike the concept of sustainability in relation to modern clothing design.
